EdX is one of well-known Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) providers. It was created by Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University in May 2012. Many of the online courses hosted by edX are university-level courses covering a wide range of disciplines.
One of the features of edX is quite a lot of the online courses are FREE to join while you are only charged if you want to have the certificate.
This non-profit organization partners with more than 100 universities and institutes providing 2,200 online courses. The subjects covered by edX are wide that you can find courses from business and computer science to humanities and philosophy.
Are edX course certificates accredited?
A frequent asked question is whether edX course certificated are recognized by employers or accredited.
As said, edX partners with more 100 universities which many of them are very famous, such as Harvard, UC Berkeley, Cornell and MIT. One of the most popular courses is Introduction to Computer Science which is offered by Harvard.
After completion of the course and course work, you will receive a certificate with big university names. Imagine putting those big names in your resume or CV which is a great way to give your education history an impressive boost to your future employer.

Be aware of edX would not keep the courses available for very long time. Some of the courses are archived which means you can access the course but you cannot be awarded any certificate though you complete all required works.
